President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led a powerful delegation of Nigerian dignitaries and international representatives to bid farewell to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who was buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
Buhari, who died at the age of 82 in London following a brief illness, was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony attended by thousands.
Accompanying President Tinubu were Vice President Kashim Shettima and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, alongside high-ranking government officials, governors, and lawmakers.
Representatives from several African and European nations were also present, highlighting Buhari’s influence across the continent and beyond.
The burial, which took place within the premises of his private residence in Daura, followed Islamic funeral rites and was marked by prayers and moments of reflection on his legacy.
Security was tight in and around Daura as mourners gathered to honour the former military ruler turned democratic leader.
