Security has been tightened around the Kaduna residence of late former President Muhammadu Buhari as police officers were seen mounting surveillance ahead of his burial.
The atmosphere at the residence on Monday morning was calm, with no sight of mourners or sympathisers.
Only armed security operatives were present, stationed at key entry points leading to the compound.
“There’s no crowd at the moment. It’s quiet here, and only the police are visible, watching over the area,” a local source told correspondents.
Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London after a brief illness, had relocated to Kaduna from his hometown of Daura on February 27, nearly two years after leaving office.
It was from this Kaduna residence that the former president departed for London for medical treatment, a trip which insiders say was meant to be a routine check-up.
A guest who previously spoke on a news program explained, “It wasn’t supposed to be a big deal. Just a routine trip. No one expected it to end this way.”
However, as preparations for Buhari’s burial intensify, the Kaduna residence remains under tight watch, with the public urged to remain calm and await further official updates.
