Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has disclosed that the funeral of Nigeria’s late President Muhammadu Buhari will be held in his hometown, Daura, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Speaking at a press conference in Katsina on Monday, Governor Radda explained that the arrangements were made after discussions with Buhari’s family and trusted associates in London, where the former president died on Sunday.
He stated that Buhari’s remains are expected to arrive in Katsina by noon on Tuesday and that the burial ceremony will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Daura.
On behalf of the state, Governor Radda conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and all Nigerians grieving the national loss.
“We pray Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus,” Radda said.
He also extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling the death a painful loss to the country.
“We also condole His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the passing of his predecessor. May Allah give us the strength to bear this great loss,” he added.
The Katsina State Government is reportedly working closely with federal agencies and the late president’s family to ensure the final rites are dignified and well-coordinated.
