President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his official visits to Saint Lucia and Brazil as part of a diplomatic engagement across the Caribbean and South America.
His return was confirmed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via a post on X early Sunday.
Tinubu was received at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by top government officials including Budget and Economic Planning Minister Atiku Bagudu, Defence Minister Bello Matawalle, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, APC stalwart Ibrahim Masari, and former Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamakko.
Tinubu’s international tour began in June with a state visit to Saint Lucia to strengthen Nigeria’s ties with Caribbean nations.
During his visit, he addressed a special joint session of the Saint Lucian parliament and was awarded the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL), the highest honour bestowed by the island nation.
He then proceeded to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
According to Onanuga, Nigeria participated as a “partner country,” a status he said signifies the growing recognition of the country’s strategic role in global affairs.
At the summit, Tinubu advocated for fairness and inclusiveness for low-income and developing countries in international governance frameworks.
