Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has joined fellow Nigerians in mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a principled leader who devoted his life to the service of the country.
Reacting to the news of the former president’s death, Aiyedatiwa said the loss was painful, but called for calm and reflection, noting that life and death are within the will of the Almighty.
“It’s a difficult moment for all of us, but our trust remains in God who gives life and takes it at His appointed time,” the governor said.
He expressed sympathy to the late president’s family, praying for comfort and strength for his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended relatives.
He also extended his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, the people of Katsina, the All Progressives Congress, and the entire nation.
Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted Buhari’s unwavering principles, noting that the late leader was known for his honesty, firm character, and commitment to national interest.
He added that despite holding the highest office, Buhari remained humble and approachable.
“President Buhari stood by his convictions. He was honest, disciplined, and had a unique way of lifting spirits even in tense situations,” Aiyedatiwa noted, recalling a light-hearted moment with him during a recent gathering in Sokoto.
While acknowledging the pain of his departure, the governor said Buhari’s contributions to Nigeria’s history would not be forgotten.
He prayed for divine mercy upon his soul and asked that he be granted a peaceful resting place in paradise.
“May the legacy of this great patriot continue to shine. Farewell, General,” Aiyedatiwa concluded.
