Shettima reportedly pays private visit to Buhari in London amid recovery

Must read

Vice President Kashim Shettima recently paid a private visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in London, sources familiar with the development have confirmed to Daily Trust.

Buhari, who is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital in London, was reportedly placed in intensive care upon arrival. However, his condition has since improved significantly, and he is said to be recovering steadily.

According to a reliable source, Shettima travelled to the United Kingdom on the night of Sunday, two weeks ago, and met with the former president the following morning.

The source also disclosed that the Vice President extended his visit to former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, during the same trip.

When contacted regarding the purpose of the visit and why it was not made public, Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), confirmed Shettima’s trip to London but described it as a “completely private” engagement.

Amid growing concerns on Monday night over Buhari’s health condition, speculations began to spread, suggesting a possible deterioration.

Efforts by Daily Trust to get clarification from Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, were initially unsuccessful.

However, in a brief text message response sent in the early hours of Tuesday, Shehu said: “The information available to me is that he (Buhari) is in a recovery mode.”
