El-Rufai outperformed Wike as FCT minister — Senator Ireti Kingibe

Must read

Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said that former Minister Nasir El-Rufai had a more impactful tenure in the FCT than the current minister, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Kingibe criticized Wike’s approach, arguing that the ongoing infrastructural developments under his watch do not directly benefit the residents of Abuja.

The senator stated that El-Rufai, during his time as FCT Minister, engaged with the actual needs of the people and worked to address them effectively.

She insisted that Wike’s projects, while visually impressive, do not solve the daily struggles of ordinary citizens.

“If you ask any FCT person who has been the minister who has performed the most in the FCT, they will tell you El-Rufai,” she said.

“Why? El-Rufai built roads, he also responded to the needs of the people.”

Kingibe added that El-Rufai didn’t delegate core responsibilities or ignore pressing challenges like relocation issues.

“El-Rufai was also the sort of minister when the people have a major problem, he did not take the senator to common people like me to say, ‘Oh, the place you have moved the abattoir to, there’s no infrastructure.’”

She concluded that effective leadership goes beyond constructing roads and buildings. “Being a successful minister isn’t just about infrastructure,” she maintained.
