Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has introduced a new joint security outfit known as the Quick Response Squad (QRS), in a major step to address the state’s persistent insecurity.
The initiative was officially launched on his behalf by Deputy Governor Dr. Sam Ode, who described the move as a proactive strategy to tackle violent crimes and attacks in troubled areas.
The Quick Response Squad is composed of a collaborative force made up of the Civilian Protection Guard (CPG), the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), traditional local hunters, and operatives from the Joint Task Force (JTF).
According to officials, this multi-agency unit will be stationed in flashpoints to swiftly intervene in emergencies and security breaches.
Governor Alia reaffirmed his commitment to making every part of Benue safe and peaceful for residents, particularly in rural communities that have long suffered from violent raids and criminal invasions.
