Liverpool to pay late Jota’s full wages to family

Must read

Liverpool Football Club has announced it will pay the outstanding wages of their late forward, Diogo Jota, to his family, following the tragic loss of the Portuguese footballer and his brother.

AFRIPOST had reported that Jota, aged 28, and his 26-year-old brother, Andrea Silva, both professional footballers, lost their lives in a devastating car crash in Spain on Thursday, July 3.

Reports indicate the siblings were en route to a jetty for a ferry trip to the United Kingdom after Jota was advised against flying due to a recent lung surgery.

The emotional toll of the loss has prompted Liverpool to delay the start of their pre-season training, which was originally scheduled for Friday, and has now been shifted to next week.

As a sign of respect and solidarity, Liverpool’s management, players, and coaching crew travelled to Gondomar, the hometown of the deceased, to attend the burial.

Meanwhile, fans at Anfield have created a touching tribute, laying down shirts, scarves, flowers, and handwritten notes in memory of the beloved striker.

Jota is survived by his mother, grandfather, wife, and three young children.
