Four individuals, including a manager of a fuel station, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for their alleged involvement in a robbery gang operating within the state.
The suspects—Noble Saint Neokoro (44), Batomie Samson (48), Abubakar Ali (47), and Bitrus Ibrahim (42)—were apprehended by operatives in the Ejigbo area following credible intelligence and a covert police investigation.
A police source who spoke under anonymity revealed that the filling station manager was among those arrested, though the station’s owner was reportedly unaware of the criminal activities being carried out on the premises.
It was further disclosed that the suspects had allegedly confessed to being part of an armed robbery syndicate.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests, stating that the operation was carried out by the Tactical Squad Hawk.
He also noted that the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) played a role in tracking down the manager.
Hundeyin explained that the arrest formed part of a larger crackdown on a gang responsible for hijacking petroleum and goods-laden trucks across Lagos.
Earlier, on June 28, the police reported the arrest of seven suspects and the recovery of a fuel tanker containing stolen Premium Motor Spirit.
According to the report, the tanker was hijacked and later found empty in the Orile area after the driver filed a report at Surulere Police Division.
Investigations led to the arrest of the suspects at a fuel station in Ejigbo, where the stolen fuel was reportedly being discharged.
Those arrested in that earlier operation included Izuchukwu Nwanoruo, Kayode Falodun, Ojo Ayodele, Ayomide Thompson, Ahmed Saliu, Igbalaye Kareem, and Babatunde Ahmed. A fuel tanker allegedly used in the operation was also recovered as evidence.
Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, praised the efforts of the operatives involved in the case and assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
He also urged the public to continue sharing useful information to assist ongoing efforts to curb crime across Lagos.
