A 26-year-old man, Gabriel Pius, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his older brother, Abu Simon, during a domestic fight in Idanre.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, made this known on Friday during a press conference held at the Command’s headquarters in Akure.
Lawal explained that the tragic incident took place on June 27, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., and was reported by another family member, Gabriel Michael.
According to preliminary findings, a serious argument between the two brothers escalated and ended with the younger sibling fatally stabbing the 22-year-old victim.
Police operatives from the Idanre Division swiftly moved in and apprehended the suspect. He has since been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.
“The suspect will be arraigned in court once the investigation is concluded,” Lawal stated.
He also appealed to members of the public to stay alert, respect the law, and cooperate with security agencies by sharing reliable information that can aid in maintaining peace and safety across the state.
