Diogo Jota, the 28-year-old forward for Liverpool FC and the Portuguese national team, has died in a car crash in Spain.
The accident occurred on the A-52 highway near Zamora in the Sanabria region during the early hours of July 3, 2025.
According to Spanish authorities, the vehicle driven by Jota left the road and caught fire.
Jota and his brother, André, both died in the crash. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and quickly became one of the club’s key attacking players, known for his speed and goal-scoring ability.
He earned nearly 50 caps for Portugal and contributed significantly to their recent successes.
