Trump confirms ceasefire plan in Gaza as Israel agrees to terms

Must read

President Donald Trump confirmed on Tuesday that Israel has agreed to the framework for a temporary 60-day halt in military operations in Gaza, and now awaits Hamas’ acceptance.

In a message posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump noted that the United States would use the proposed two-month ceasefire period to continue diplomatic efforts with all involved parties in pursuit of a lasting peace.

He disclosed that Qatar and Egypt, two nations deeply engaged in the ceasefire mediation, would be responsible for presenting the current offer to Hamas.

“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better, IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” Trump said in the post.

According to the U.S. leader, American and Israeli officials held detailed and fruitful discussions earlier Tuesday to strategise on the Gaza issue.

There was no immediate public reaction from Israeli authorities at the time the statement was released.

Trump had hinted days earlier about progress toward a ceasefire deal, and he reaffirmed on Tuesday that a final agreement could be reached as soon as next week.

Sources say Trump is preparing to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington in the coming days, with the Gaza war high on the agenda.

This effort is part of an ongoing U.S. initiative to secure a temporary truce that could pave the way for a broader peace plan in the volatile region.
