Prominent activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has commended the unification of opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly applauding the exodus of top figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Adeyanju expressed his support following reports that key PDP figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, had formally exited the party on Tuesday to rally behind the ADC in a move to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his reaction on Facebook, Adeyanju wrote: “I’m proud of the opposition for coming together finally.
Special thanks to Atiku, Obi, and other top opposition leaders for putting aside their personal ambition to make this happen.”
He added: “PDP is finally dead. I hope Kwankwaso will also do the same. This is what they should have done in 2023. Whenever you wake up is your morning. Good morning to the opposition.”
The group of defectors has also urged remaining PDP members to join forces under the ADC platform to unseat the APC-led government in 2027.
