Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, well known as 2Baba, has opened up about his long-standing issues with former bandmate Blackface.
In a recent interview with media personality Nedu, 2Baba expressed his frustration over the constant backlash he receives from Blackface, despite always maintaining a respectful stance toward him.
The music icon described many of Blackface’s allegations as unreasonable and hurtful.
Reflecting on their past collaborations, the “African Queen” crooner also revealed that he was responsible for writing the majority of the hit song, which has remained a defining piece of his career.
Despite the repeated attacks, 2Baba admitted he still doesn’t understand the motive behind Blackface’s continued grievances, but he’s choosing to rise above the negativity.
“It was a collaboration. I wrote most of the song, actually, but we wrote it together.
“I’m not somebody who comes and starts dragging words. I don’t know what his intentions were, and I don’t know what I have ever done to him.
“I’ve always shown him respect, but he has always been out there to smear my name. They are absurd, ridiculous and very painful at times. And, till today, I just wonder why? That’s the only thing I have in my head.
“What’s the reason, it’s just ridiculous“.
