Ali Dalori takes over as APC acting national chairman

Must read

Ali Bukar Dalori has been named the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the resignation of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who stepped down from the role citing health issues.

Ganduje’s resignation, which took effect immediately, was confirmed on Friday as reported by AFRIPOST.

According to his resignation letter submitted to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, the former Kano governor expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the ruling party.

Felix Morka, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, issued an official statement confirming Ganduje’s exit.

Ganduje had assumed the chairmanship in August 2023 after Abdullahi Adamu resigned, but his leadership sparked internal disputes over the violation of the party’s zoning formula, which designated the position for the North Central zone.

Following Ganduje’s resignation, President Tinubu reportedly instructed Dalori to serve as interim chairman until the National Executive Committee (NEC) convenes an emergency session to formally appoint a new leader. Dalori, previously the Deputy National Chairman (North), is expected to bring a sense of balance and calm to the APC’s top hierarchy.

Meanwhile, Ganduje, who was appointed Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) board earlier this year, is also reportedly being considered for a non-career ambassadorial appointment.
