Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially renamed The Polytechnic, Ibadan in honour of the late former governor of the state, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo.
The announcement was made on Thursday during a tribute event held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, where an interdenominational commendation service was conducted in memory of the late statesman.
Governor Makinde declared that the institution will now bear the name Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, as a lasting tribute to the late governor’s contributions to education and public service in the state.
Dr. Olunloyo, who died a few weeks shy of his 90th birthday, was the founding Rector of the polytechnic before rising to become governor of Oyo State.
