In a move aimed at boosting subscriptions and showing appreciation to loyal customers, MultiChoice Nigeria has slashed the price of its DStv decoder by 50 per cent, from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000.
The company’s CEO, John Ugbe, revealed this in a press statement yesterday, saying the decision aligns with a new campaign called “We Got You,” which is designed to bring more value to viewers across the country.
“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day,” Ugbe said.
“The ‘We Got You’ campaign is about making premium content more accessible and showing that DStv offers something for everyone, not just football fans.”
The company noted that it is repositioning DStv as a go-to platform for all kinds of entertainment, spanning genres such as drama, movies, news, children’s programming, and more.
“This means more channels, more shows, and more reasons to tune in every day,” Ugbe added.
MultiChoice also introduced a special promotional deal offering subscribers a free upgrade to a higher bouquet when they fully pay for their current package between June 16 and July 31, 2025.
The firm acknowledged that both the decoder discount and the free upgrade promo are part of efforts to support Nigerians facing financial strain.
The announcement comes after MultiChoice lost around 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025.
It’s worth noting that the company had previously raised prices on its DStv and GOtv services three times within one year, in April and November 2023, and most recently in May 2024.
