Justice E.G. Umokoro of the Bayelsa State High Court was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Saturday evening in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Sources said the abduction occurred around 7:00 pm in front of a well-known fast food outlet in the Ekeki area, situated along the Chief Melford Okilo Expressway.
The reason behind the abduction remains uncertain as of the time of filing this report. Security operatives are said to be investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Police Command has not released any official statement regarding the development.
The shocking incident has deepened public anxiety in the state, which has in recent times grappled with a series of cult-related attacks that have resulted in several fatalities.
