In a sweeping security operation across Kaduna State, the Police Command-led Special Task Force has arrested 398 suspects in just nine days, as authorities ramp up efforts to curb criminality in the region.
The large-scale operation, backed by various security agencies including the military, DSS, Civil Defence, NDLEA, Immigration, Correctional Services, KADVIS, and KASTLEA, has been described as one of the most impactful joint efforts in recent times.
According to a statement issued Friday by DSP Mansir Hassan, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, the operation has also led to the seizure of a locally crafted pistol, 29 stolen phones, dangerous weapons, and a significant quantity of illegal drugs.
“The first nine days of this operation have yielded significant results. We have successfully arrested 398 suspects across various parts of the state.
“The swift and intelligence-driven nature of the raids has forced many criminal elements to flee Kaduna State out of fear of apprehension,” DSP Hassan stated.
Among those taken into custody are Mathew Adamu, identified as a gang leader notorious for unleashing terror on communities, and Adamu Umar, a suspected drug trafficker.
Hassan confirmed that a locally fabricated firearm was recovered from Mathew Adamu, while Adamu Umar’s case has been handed over to the NDLEA for continued investigation and prosecution.
Highlighting the outcomes, the police noted that 29 mobile phones, believed to be stolen, were recovered, and several have been returned to verified owners after thorough screening.
Authorities also confiscated a cache of dangerous weapons and a large volume of illicit substances during the raids.
“This ongoing operation is part of a broader strategy initiated by the Kaduna State Government to dismantle all criminal networks within the state,” DSP Hassan emphasised.
“The Special Task Force, with the Nigeria Police Force at the helm, also includes personnel from the military, DSS, Civil Defence, Immigration, NDLEA, FRSC, Customs, KADVIS, and KASTLEA.”
Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad praised the dedication of the task force, reiterating that the campaign will not relent until Kaduna is completely purged of criminality.
“This clampdown is just the beginning. Our officers and all members of the task force are on high alert and remain fully committed to restoring peace and order in Kaduna State.
“We will not rest until every corner of this state is free from criminal elements,” he vowed.
