Defend yourselves – Apostle Suleman to Benue residents, slams FG over killings

Must read

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, has openly criticized the Federal Government following a series of brutal killings in Benue State that left over 200 dead.

The tragic incident, which occurred on Friday night, involved coordinated attacks by suspected herdsmen targeting the Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area.

The victims included displaced persons, five security officers, as well as women and children.

In a heartfelt post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Suleman condemned the attack as both “barbaric” and “evil.”

He urged the government to admit its failure in handling the country’s security challenges.

“If the Federal Government knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens,” he said.

Emphasizing the citizens’ right to protect themselves, the fiery cleric reiterated that self-defense is constitutional.

“Self defense is enshrined in the constitution… I said it when I went to Jos and Benue… we can’t watch this continue. People of Benue, defend yourself,” he declared.

Suleman also lambasted politicians who are already preoccupied with the 2027 elections despite the ongoing bloodshed.

“What is happening in Benue state is evil, barbaric and a mayhem… It’s ridiculous that people are thinking of 2027 whilst mayhem is being unleashed in 2025 on citizens they are supposed to govern… what happened to your humanity?” he questioned.
