Dangote refinery begins free fuel supply nationwide

Must read

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has unveiled plans to distribute petrol and diesel at no cost to fuel dealers, major distributors, and other heavy users across Nigeria starting August 15, 2025.

In a public announcement issued on Sunday, the Lagos-based refinery confirmed it has acquired 4,000 new tankers powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to kickstart the programme.

“In addition, the refinery will offer a credit facility to those purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres, allowing them to obtain an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, under bank guarantee,” the statement read.

To ensure smooth and widespread product delivery, the refinery disclosed it has also invested in several CNG “daughter booster” stations.

Over 100 CNG tankers will be deployed nationwide to bolster last-mile fuel distribution.

“This strategic programme is part of our broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability and supporting Nigeria’s economic development,” the refinery stated.

According to the company, this effort will reactivate idle petrol stations, provide jobs, stimulate small businesses, and generate higher government revenue.

It is also set to improve fuel availability in remote and underserved locations.

“Dangote Refinery is dedicated to ensuring that no place is left behind,” the statement concluded.

“Our goal is to provide equitable access to affordable fuel for all Nigerians, regardless of location, making energy more accessible and sustainable for everyone, wherever they may be.”
