Osun 2026: Kinsmen, indigenes endorse Babayemi for APC gubernatorial ticket

Scores of indigenes of Gbongan and other towns and villages in Ayedaade local government area in Osun State have called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pick Prince Dotun Babayemi as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the forthcoming election.

The indigenes made this declaration on Thursday in Gbongan.

The rally was held in solidarity for Babayemi.

Gbongan is the headquarters of Ayedaade local government area in Osun State.

It was learnt that Babayemi’s father, Oba Solomon Oyewole Babayemi was the immediate past Olufi of Gbongan.

Spokesman of the indigenes, Comrade Rafiu Olaitan Kolawole from Otun Balogun Ward 02 Unit 01, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday, appealed to the leadership of APC to choose Babayemi as the gubernatorial candidate of APC in the election billed to take place next year.

Kolawole who spoke on behalf of the over 2,000 indigenes of the local government area, said that the endorsement of their kinsman was as a result of the antecedent of the family of the APC chieftain, coupled with his own profile and contribution to the state.

He said that Babayemi is ready to change the face of the state for better.

Kolawole in the statement, said “We, the youths of Ayedaade Local Government, are writing to express our unwavering endorsement for Omooba Dotun Babayemi, a distinguished governorship aspirant, in his pursuit of the All Progressive Congress (APC) nomination for the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State.

“Babayemi has consistently exemplified leadership, vision, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of our community. His policies and initiatives are poised to drive sustainable development, create significant opportunities, and empower the youth.

“We appeal to the leaders of the party to make sure the Gbongan-born Prince is chosen to fly the flag of the party in the 2026 gubernatorial election”.
