In a sweeping diplomatic move, Israel has shut down all its embassies and consulates worldwide following the launch of a military offensive targeting sites across Iran, according to a statement released by its Foreign Ministry on Friday.
As part of the closure, consular services for Israeli nationals overseas have been suspended.
The ministry urged citizens abroad to update their current location and status through an online form.
For emergencies, Israelis were advised to contact the Foreign Ministry’s situation room directly.
Additionally, the ministry issued safety guidelines, advising Israelis overseas to avoid publicly displaying national symbols, sharing travel plans or personal details on social media, and attending Israeli-linked mass gatherings.
Earlier in the day, Israel launched a significant aerial assault on various Iranian military facilities, reportedly hitting nuclear-related sites.
Iranian media confirmed the deaths of several top-ranking commanders, including Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps leader Hossein Salami.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, responded with a stern warning, promising retribution and declaring, “Israel has written a bitter fate for itself.”
