Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to upholding democratic values, stressing the importance of the rule of law, human rights, and inclusive leadership.
Speaking in Port Harcourt during a Democracy Day address on Thursday, Governor Fubara highlighted his administration’s resolve to protect lives and property while fostering a transparent and accountable government that accommodates all citizens, irrespective of political affiliations.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democracy, he called for collective efforts across political divides to build a society where every voice matters, talents are nurtured, and all residents can contribute to shared development goals.
He acknowledged the recent political instability in the state, describing it as a sobering reminder of the fragility of democracy.
According to him, democracy requires continuous protection and strengthening to remain effective and enduring.
