Democracy Day: Oyo Senator, Alli reaffirms democratic values

A member of the National Assembly, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has joined millions of Nigerians to commemorate Democracy Day, reaffirming his commitment to good governance, accountability and inclusive leadership for national development.

This is contained in a statement signed by his media office and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ibadan.

Alli who represents Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) said that June 12 symbolises the resilience, courage, and sacrifice of Nigerians who fought tirelessly for democratic rule, particularly during the historic 1993 presidential election struggle.

He praised the democratic journey so far, noting that the sacrifices made by heroes of June 12 must continue to inspire citizens to defend and strengthen democratic ideals at every opportunity.

The lawmaker reiterated his pledge to advance legislation that protects civil liberties, deepens institutional reforms, and ensures participatory governance that reflects the will and voice of the Nigerian people.

Senator Alli extended heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Tinubu, commending his purposeful leadership and commitment to policies targeted at economic recovery, national unity, youth engagement, and social development.

The lawmaker said that Nigeria has attained a critical point in its democratic evolution, requiring visionary leadership, citizen involvement and a collective resolve to uphold democratic values across all sectors.

He encouraged Nigerians to rededicate themselves to peace, justice, equity and national development, stressing the need for unity and cooperation in achieving a prosperous democratic society.

Alli concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy Democracy Day, calling for renewed hope, patriotism and shared commitment to building a nation that meets the aspirations of all its people.
