Authorities at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, have distanced themselves from the tragic incident involving a man who reportedly leapt to his death from a three-storey building in Ifite-Awka.
AFRIPOST had reported that the victim, identified as 28-year-old Kenneth Oyeaka Rapuchukwu from Aguleri, allegedly consumed an illegal substance before jumping from the building known as Seat of Wisdom Lodge on June 5, 2025.
In an official statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Louis Njelita, the university clarified that Rapuchukwu was not a student.
It emphasized that the university had no direct connection to the events that led to the fatal incident.
“Despite misinformation circulating online, investigations confirm that the deceased was not enrolled at Nnamdi Azikiwe University,” the statement read.
The university noted that the victim’s body has been taken to the morgue while security operatives continue their investigation.
It also highlighted the presence of a campus-based counselling centre, which provides support for students dealing with psychological and substance abuse issues, further reinforcing that Rapuchukwu was not likely affiliated with the school.
The university appealed to the public to refrain from spreading false information and to allow security agencies to complete their inquiry.
