Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has distributed 50 brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicles to security agencies in the state, reaffirming his administration’s priority on safety and crime prevention.
The handover event, held at the Government House in Akure on Wednesday, formed part of activities marking his first 100 days in office.
The governor said the initiative was a crucial step toward enhancing the capacity of security forces to swiftly respond to incidents and safeguard citizens.
“Providing the right tools is vital for effective security operations. This distribution reflects our administration’s dedication to supporting those who protect our communities,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He explained that the initiative aligns with the government’s development plan, known as OUR EASE, which places emphasis on protecting lives and maintaining order across the state.
The Governor also recalled that 25 patrol vehicles had previously been distributed in July 2024, noting that this latest effort builds on that commitment.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized the need for closer cooperation among all security outfits in Ondo State, stating that a unified approach is essential to overcoming current security challenges.
“These vehicles are not just assets—they are tools of service and protection. I urge all recipients to use them responsibly for patrols, rapid interventions, and ensuring safety throughout the state,” he added.
Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, Secretary to the State Government, in his remarks, reiterated that security remains a top agenda for the present administration.
He highlighted several achievements within the Governor’s first 100 days, stressing that the new vehicles would significantly boost operational efficiency.
Also speaking at the event, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, who spoke on behalf of all security agencies, appreciated the government’s continuous support and promised that the vehicles would be used strictly for official duties and maintained accordingly.
Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, praised the initiative, saying it would ease the logistical difficulties security agents face and enhance field response capabilities across the state.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, described the gesture as a bold step towards improving the mobility of security operatives and addressing a recurring concern in local communities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Oluseyi Okenla, who represented the State Commissioner of Police, also expressed gratitude, noting that the move reinforces the administration’s deep commitment to the protection of lives and property.
