Jamila Muhammad, a female pilgrim from Plateau State, passed away while on pilgrimage in Makkah during the 2025 hajj season.

This was confirmed on Monday evening by Daiyabu Dauda, the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

According to Dauda, the pilgrim died at King Abdul’aziz Hospital in Makkah due to complications related to diabetes, as diagnosed by medical personnel.

Dauda, who also serves as the Amirul Hajj, expressed his condolences and noted that upon learning of her condition, he immediately directed the medical team to attend to her, following instructions from Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

He added that several officials and family members participated in the funeral prayer held at the Grand Mosque, after which Jamila was buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

The statement read in part: “We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. Plateau State mourns the loss of one of its female pilgrims, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, who died on Monday, June 2, 2025, at King Abdul’aziz Hospital due to complications from diabetes as confirmed by the doctors.

‘Whoever migrates for Allah and His Messenger, and death overtakes him, his reward rests with Allah’ (Quran 4:100).”

The Executive Secretary extended heartfelt sympathies to the Plateau State Government, the family, and all who knew the late pilgrim, praying that Allah grants her eternal rest and forgiveness.

“May her soul find peace in Aljannatul Firdaws,” he concluded.
