The Lagos Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially handed over a suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police for further investigation into serious allegations involving kidnapping and ritual activity.
The development was announced by the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday.
He confirmed that Obieze, who had been declared wanted, was transferred to the police at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
Obieze, who also goes by the alias Levi Obu Onyeka, was taken into custody on May 29, 2025, by immigration officers at the Gbaji checkpoint on the Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to leave the country by motorcycle.
His arrest followed intelligence reports connecting him to the disappearance and suspected ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu, Enugu State.
The girl, who was abducted on May 27 while accompanying her father to the farm, was later rescued from a shrine reportedly linked to the suspect.
According to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, Obieze was being sought by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with the case.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi.
The suspect, identified as a traditional healer from Umuajor village in Enugu, was allegedly part of a trio involved in the abduction.
Officials said his identity was confirmed through a slip issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) found in his possession.
He also allegedly confessed to the offence during initial interrogation by immigration officers.
The case has now been transferred to the police for a more in-depth investigation and legal follow-up.
