We’re interested in shooting movie about Boko Haram – Producers of historic movie, “77 The Festac Conspiracy”

Producers of the historic masterpiece movie, “77 The Festac Conspiracy” have revealed the intention to make a movie about the deadly Boko Haram insurgency and how it has shaped the trajectory of Nigeria’s development.

Tonye Princewill, one of the Executive Producers of the new blockbusting film made this known while speaking at the screening of the new movie at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival held at Palace of Festivals and Congresses, Cannes in France on the 20th of May, 2025.

Speaking about the concept of the movie, Princewill noted that the movie, 77” The Festac Conspiracy came as imperative following the acceptance and attention garnered with an earlier movie titled 76: Africa’s First Military Thriller. He recounted the powerful history of how Nigeria under the leadership of General Olusegun Obasanjo converged many countries in Nigeria to celebrate their unique cultural attributes.

“The attention that 76 (Africa’s First Military Thriller) garnered made 77 emergence, we are more interested in shooting a movie about Boko Haram, and we are still probably going to do that. The demand for 77 was so well that we just have to do it, and for those who knows about Festac 77 which was black Africa coming together in Nigeria, over 56 countries including Brazil, The USA and others.”

“I talk to myself, I don’t want to do and support one person, I want to support many, and how do we do this in a sustainable way, so I came from a sort of a philanthropic background into the industry and I wish to help these artistes and we want to do that in a sustainable way.” He added.

Speaking earlier, the Co-executive producer, Adonijah Owiriwah had maintained that the stories of the African continent are complex but they hold huge relevance to the global world.

He said; “Africa, our stories are complex and they are relevant globally, we are here ready and aware”

The Group CEO, Film House Group, Kene Okwuosa in his remark added that the movie is a powerful movement for the nation and the continent at large.

“It is such a powerful movement for us as a people and for the continent. 77 amazing to live up to 76 (Africa’s First Military Thriller) beautiful things we have seen it, we urge us to see it, it’s been a while that I have to fend off this about this film so we are really excited about what is to come.”

The public screening of the movie converged world class movies stars from Nigeria and across the world.
