A video capturing a surprising moment between French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, has gone viral online.
The incident reportedly happened aboard the presidential aircraft shortly before landing in Vietnam, where President Macron was beginning an official diplomatic visit to Southeast Asia.
In the widely circulated footage, the president is seen conversing with Brigitte near the plane’s door when she abruptly reaches out and appears to strike him in the mouth.
Macron, visibly startled, quickly composes himself and proceeds to wave at the media awaiting their arrival.
As the pair descended the aircraft’s steps, Macron offered his arm to his wife, which she declined, opting instead to hold onto the railing.
Initially, the French presidential office dismissed the video’s authenticity. However, they later acknowledged it, describing the scene as harmless and playful.
A source close to the couple remarked, “It was a moment of togetherness. No need to feed conspiracy theories.”
The video has sparked a wave of reactions and renewed public scrutiny over the couple’s relationship.
Brigitte Macron, who is 25 years older than her husband and was his drama teacher during his teenage years, has long attracted attention due to their unconventional love story.
While officials attempt to brush off the incident, critics say the moment invites further questions about the personal dynamics between France’s First Couple.
