The Katsina State Police have taken into custody a 25-year-old woman suspected of fatally stabbing her co-wife in Daura town, Daura Local Government Area.
According to a statement from DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the Public Relations Officer of the Katsina Police Command, the incident happened behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari neighborhood following a domestic dispute that turned violent.
On the night of May 24, 2025, at around 11 pm, Nasir Yusuf, the husband, returned home from the market to find his first wife, 30-year-old Zainab Lawal, injured with multiple knife wounds and lying in a pool of blood.
The police swiftly responded, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), and rushed the victim to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura.
Unfortunately, the doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Further investigations led to the arrest of the second wife, 23-year-old Rabi’a Labaran, who admitted to the stabbing, citing a misunderstanding with the deceased as the cause of the confrontation.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has called on the public to reject domestic violence and to avoid resolving disputes through violence.
He stressed that such actions undermine the rule of law and urged people to pursue legal channels when addressing conflicts.
