Gov Uzodimma urges speedy investigation into JAMB website breach

Must read

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has urged the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to intensify their investigation into the hacking of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) website.

The governor’s call follows recent disruptions experienced during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), where technical issues linked to the compromised JAMB portal affected the results of over 370,000 candidates—many of whom were from the Southeast.

Security agencies on Friday announced the arrest of 20 individuals suspected of being involved in the cyberattack.

The suspects allegedly manipulated the JAMB portal for financial gain, leading to widespread confusion and distress among students and their families.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, Governor Uzodimma welcomed the arrests and praised the swift response of security agencies.

He emphasized that a thorough and prompt investigation would not only uncover the truth behind the sabotage but also help ease nationwide concerns triggered by the disruption.

“The Police and the DSS must act quickly to unmask all those responsible for the attack on the JAMB platform,” the statement read.

“Speedy prosecution of the suspects will serve as a deterrent to others considering similar actions.”

Governor Uzodimma described the situation as a national disgrace that must be urgently addressed and commended JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for his transparency and dedication to maintaining the integrity of the examination body.
