We have pulled out with five million members — LP faction leader

Callistus Okafor, a factional chairman of the Labour Party, has confirmed that his group, which he claims consists of five million members, has withdrawn from the party.

The announcement was made during a press briefing held in Abuja yesterday, where Okafor explained that the decision followed internal consultations and growing dissatisfaction with the state of the party.

“My own faction, we met, and we said that this is the time. I hereby announce to Nigerians, based on the decision as a team in the Labour Party, the 5 million Nigerians who are under my control, hereby today pull out from LP to team WaZoBia Nigeria,” Okafor stated.

He revealed that the newly formed WaZoBia Nigeria is a non-partisan platform and a national movement, promising to unveil more details in the near future.

“It has come to a point where it is no longer healthy in LP,” he added.

Okafor also criticized Peter Obi’s role in the party’s internal strife, saying, “Peter Obi, when he came to the party, he supported Abure, who has become his archenemy today.

“If Peter Obi had called me, LP would have gone into that election (2023) with one mind. We know the outcome of the election.”

The exit marks another chapter in the ongoing turmoil within the Labour Party, as factional disputes continue to challenge its unity.
