UNILAG refutes claims of delay in NELFund loan reimbursements

The University of Lagos has dismissed circulating online reports alleging a delay in the reimbursement of NELFund loans to students who had paid their mandatory fees before the university received the loan funds.

In a statement released on Thursday, the university’s Head of Communication Unit, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, clarified the situation, stating that reimbursements are carried out only after thorough reconciliation and verification with NELFund.

She explained that the university has so far received three batches of the loan disbursements. Students in the first and second batches have already received their refunds, while the third batch, which arrived in late April, is currently undergoing the necessary collation and reconciliation process.

Alaga-Ibraheem reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to ensuring timely and transparent processing of refunds in accordance with laid down procedures.

She also encouraged students to make use of the NELFund loan scheme and to reach out to the NELFund help desk at the Student Affairs Division for quick support and assistance with any issues.
