President Bola Tinubu has submitted a new budget proposal of ₦1.48 trillion to the National Assembly for Rivers State, urging swift legislative approval.
This move follows the Supreme Court’s decision to nullify the state’s initial 2025 budget, coupled with the state’s current emergency governance situation.
According to the President, the proposed spending includes ₦324 billion for infrastructure development, ₦166 billion for healthcare, ₦75.6 billion for education, and ₦31.4 billion to support agriculture.
Tinubu noted that the agricultural component is projected to create approximately 6,000 jobs.
He emphasised the importance of urgent action from lawmakers to ensure the wellbeing of the state’s residents.
