Confusion as Atiku’s 2027 coalition debunks claims of ADC adoption

Must read

The proposed 2027 National Coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports alleging it has chosen the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official political platform. Coalition leaders described the claims as entirely false and misleading.

Malam Salihu Moh Lukman, a prominent coalition figure and ex-National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also refuted reports suggesting he was appointed to lead the coalition’s secretariat.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 22, Lukman urged the public to disregard such misinformation.

“I’ve seen a report by Vanguard Newspaper claiming I’ve been named head of the coalition’s Secretariat. That is untrue—no such appointment has been made,” he clarified.

He further stated that the alleged adoption of the ADC during a coalition meeting on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, is equally inaccurate.

“Discussions among coalition leaders are ongoing, and no final decision has been reached on which platform will be used for the 2027 elections,” Lukman explained.

According to him, certain individuals appear to be intentionally spreading false stories to create division within the coalition.

“It’s unfortunate that some mischief-makers are feeding the media with unfounded narratives to disrupt unity among coalition members,” he said, calling on the media and public to ignore such distractions.

Lukman concluded by assuring that the coalition would make a formal declaration once all negotiations were finalized and appealed for continued patience.
