APC Govs back Tinubu for 2027 Presidential race

All 22 governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing him as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

The declaration was made public on Thursday during the APC National Summit, which took place at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.

Themed Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far, the summit brought together top party leaders and stakeholders.

Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, moved the motion to adopt Tinubu as the party’s only candidate for the upcoming presidential election.

His motion was seconded by the PGF Vice Chairman, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

The motion received overwhelming support, with attendees responding with a voice vote and a standing ovation.

Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, federal lawmakers, former and current governors, and APC members from all parts of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory.

This collective endorsement comes just days after APC leaders from the Northwest region voiced their backing for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, reflecting a growing consensus within the party’s ranks.
