The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has rejected claims that a section of the country was intentionally targeted during the 2025 UTME.
AFRIPOST had reported that a technical fault had disrupted the examination process in five South-East states and Lagos, prompting accusations that JAMB had tampered with the results to the detriment of candidates from the South-East region.
Speaking during a management meeting ahead of the release of the results for the rescheduled UTME, Professor Oloyede dismissed the speculation, labelling it as unfounded.
He also addressed the unfortunate death of a candidate linked to the exam, with the board observing a minute of silence in remembrance.
Professor Oloyede emphasised that all candidates are treated equally regardless of their origin and denied any targeted sabotage.
His remarks come amid mounting pressure from South-East lawmakers demanding his resignation due to the glitch, which impacted more than 300,000 candidates.
