Missing Sokoto activist found in critical state at Zamfara hospital

Hamdiyya Sharif, a prominent activist and vocal critic of the Sokoto State Governor, has been located in Zamfara State after being reported missing earlier today.

AFRIPOST had reported that the update on Hamdiyya going missing came from her legal representative, Abba Hikima, who disclosed the information on Wednesday via a Facebook post in Hausa.

Meanwhile, this evening, the lawyer has disclosed that Hamdiyya is currently admitted at the Bakura General Hospital in Zamfara, battling a severe health condition with security forces stationed by her side to ensure her safety.

Hikima confirmed that her disappearance was a result of abduction, which preceded her hospitalisation. He had initially raised alarm about her missing status on Tuesday, sparking public concern and widespread discussions online.

The discovery of the activist in such a condition has reignited debates over the threats faced by government critics and human rights advocates in northern Nigeria.
