Four people, including a retired community elder, have been abducted by unknown gunmen in Okoloke, a farming settlement in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This marks the third reported kidnapping in the area within one week, raising concerns over escalating insecurity in the region.
The latest abduction occurred early Tuesday when the armed men stormed the community and broke into the home of Pa Ezekiel Durojaiye, a well-known elder from nearby Okunran village.
He was seized along with three others and taken into the forest at gunpoint.
According to a local resident, the attackers operated with little resistance, adding to the growing fear among villagers.
Yagba West has recently seen a rise in abduction cases. Last week, Oba James Dada Ogunyamda, the traditional ruler of the village, was kidnapped. Just days later, two vigilante members and another individual were also taken by armed men.
So far, eight residents have been kidnapped within seven days.
Reports say the abductors of the 90-year-old monarch initially demanded N100 million in ransom, later reducing it to N50 million.
His family continues to appeal for help from authorities and the public.
Despite statements from Yagba West Chairman Tosin Olokun and the Kogi State Police promising action, there has been no official report of any rescue or arrests.
