Tension gripped residents of Ore, the administrative center of Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State, after a commercial motorcyclist, Nazifi Ibrahim, was shot dead by suspected robbers.
The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. along Alafia Street, close to the Ore-Benin Expressway.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that Ibrahim, who hailed from northern Nigeria, had just dropped off a passenger when he was attacked and killed by individuals believed to be motorcycle snatchers.
A resident who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the exact motive behind the killing remains uncertain.
The deceased was buried in Ore in line with Islamic rites.
Police authorities have confirmed the incident and assured that an investigation is ongoing to track down those responsible for the crime.
