Fani-Kayode taunts Peter Obi over alleged snub at Pope inauguration

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has taken a swipe at Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s former presidential flagbearer, over a viral video suggesting he was blocked by Vatican security at Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration.

The footage, which has sparked widespread reactions online, shows Obi in conversation with Cardinal Francis Arinze and a Vatican security official, while other dignitaries proceeded into the VVIP section of the ceremony.

Reports allege that Obi was denied entry for failing to produce the official invitation pass required for access.

Reacting to the incident on his X handle, Fani-Kayode mocked the former Anambra State Governor, saying, “He was beautifully bounced until @officialABAT put in a word for him and he was later allowed in to pay homage.”

He added, “Despite Cardinal Arinze’s noble efforts, it appears that @PeterObi was not allowed in to see the Pope.”

According to Fani-Kayode, even with President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, Obi was still restricted.

“He was not allowed anywhere near the Pope and instead went and paid homage to our President,” he wrote.

Ending with a dig at Obi’s supporters, the former minister advised, “Obidients take note: only go where you are accepted and appreciated and not where you are tolerated.”
