Baba-Ahmed criticises APC leaders over Tinubu’s 2027 endorsement

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser on Political Affairs to President Bola Tinubu, has expressed disapproval of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North West leaders’ endorsement of Tinubu for a second term.

Last Friday, top APC figures from the North West — including National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, all regional governors, Federal Executive Council members, and other elected officials — unanimously backed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

However, Baba-Ahmed dismissed the endorsement as disconnected from the real concerns of ordinary citizens in the region.

Taking to his 𝕏 handle on Monday, the former Northern Elders Forum spokesperson said that people grappling with hunger, insecurity, and economic hardship would be the ultimate decision-makers in the next election.

He further accused the APC leaders of ignoring the plight of the masses.

“Governors and politicians from the North West may have endorsed themselves and the president, but they clearly left out the people who suffer violence and poverty daily,” he wrote.
