2027 Election: APC calls for arrest of Zamfara PDP women leader

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned remarks by the Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hajiya Rabi Madawaki, accusing her of inciting violence.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Gusau, Yusuf Idris, the APC Publicity Secretary for Zamfara, urged security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and promptly detain Madawaki for her provocative comments.

Idris revealed that Madawaki made the threats in the presence of the governor’s wife, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda, at an event held in Gusau last Friday.

She allegedly said in Hausa, “Anyone who refuses to vote for Dauda will be maimed, beaten, or killed” (“zamu ci ubanshi zamu yi mashi duka”).

The APC spokesperson emphasized that the party will not be intimidated by such acts of violence or intimidation, noting that elections must be conducted peacefully, freely, and fairly.

He also commended the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in tackling political violence and intimidation.

The statement concluded with a firm stance that the Zamfara APC will not tolerate any form of harassment or violent threats as the 2027 governorship election approaches, where PDP’s candidate is Governor Dauda Lawal.
