Joe Biden thanks Americans for support following cancer diagnosis

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the public for their messages of support following the announcement that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The 82-year-old Democrat revealed over the weekend that he is battling an aggressive form of the disease, which has reportedly spread to his bones. The news prompted a wave of sympathy and well-wishes from across the country, including from President Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, and everyday citizens.

“Cancer has touched the lives of so many. Like countless others, Jill and I have discovered our strength even in the most difficult moments,” Biden shared on social media, alongside a
photo of himself with his wife.

“Thank you for your love and support — it means the world to us.”

According to a statement from Biden’s office, he was diagnosed last Friday after experiencing urinary issues. Medical evaluation revealed a prostate nodule, leading to the diagnosis.

The statement noted that although the cancer is aggressive, it is hormone-sensitive — a factor that could improve its management. Biden and his family are currently discussing possible treatment plans with his doctors.

Despite political rivalries, Donald Trump, 78, expressed empathy, stating, “We are saddened by the news. Our thoughts are with Jill and the entire Biden family, and we wish Joe a speedy and successful recovery.”

He shared the message on Truth Social on Sunday.

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight men will face the disease during their lifetime.

While early detection significantly improves outcomes, prostate cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men.

Treatment options such as hormone therapy can help reduce tumor size and slow disease progression, though they do not offer a cure.
