Suspected kidnappers captured by hunters in Owo

Must read

Local hunters in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area in Ondo State, have apprehended two suspected kidnappers believed to be members of a criminal gang operating in the area.

A video sighted by AFRIPOST and posted on Facebook by a user identified as Ogbeni OB Sugar captured the suspects tied up and being interrogated by residents.

The two-minute and forty-one-second footage showed community members questioning the suspects about their operations and the identity of their leader.

Several items believed to have been recovered from the suspects were visible in the video, including guns, cutlasses, cans of beer, and energy drinks. At a point during the video, one of the suspects was heard begging for water.

Speaking anonymously, a resident confirmed to our correspondent that the suspects were captured after hunters raided their hideout in the forest.

“The hunters invaded their camp in the bush yesterday. Some of the kidnappers managed to escape, but two of them were caught and brought into the town,” the source said.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the command was aware of the video and had begun investigations.

“I’ve seen the video too, and the command has started an investigation into the matter,” he stated.
