Flynas airlifts 50% of Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia in one week

Flynas, one of the Saudi-approved airlines for Nigeria’s 2025 Hajj operations, has successfully transported 6,228 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia within just one week—representing half of the total number assigned to the carrier.

This update was provided by the airline’s spokesperson, Umma Salama Kyaure, in a statement released in Abuja on Friday.

Kyaure noted that the pilgrims, who were taken to Madinah, account for 50 percent of the 12,506 individuals allocated to Flynas by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for this year’s holy pilgrimage.

The airline began its operations from three out of its four designated hubs in Nigeria—namely Lagos, Kebbi, and Sokoto—and deployed nine aircraft for the mission. Flynas was assigned pilgrims from Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

So far, the airline has completed 15 flights: seven from Lagos, six from Kebbi, and two from Sokoto. The passenger distribution includes 2,131 pilgrims from Lagos, Osun, and Ogun; 2,561 from Kebbi; and 848 from Sokoto and Zamfara.

According to Kyaure, airlift operations for FCT pilgrims are expected to begin on May 17.

Meanwhile, Umar Kaila, Managing Director of First Planet Travels and General Sales Agent (GSA) for Flynas in Nigeria, reassured pilgrims of a smooth and well-organized experience throughout the Hajj season.

He also expressed gratitude to NAHCON, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Hajj boards of the participating states for their collaboration and support in ensuring a seamless operation.
