The Federal Government has refuted claims suggesting that its ministerial press briefings are being relocated from Abuja to London.
Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, addressed the issue on Thursday during the eighth edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing held at the National Press Centre in Abuja.
He dismissed the rumor, asserting that the briefing sessions are still being conducted in Nigeria.
“This is your response to the claims that the briefings are moving abroad,” Idris said. “The platform provided by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation remains firmly based here in the country.”
The event was attended by several other ministers, including Hannatu Musawa of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy; Professor Joseph Utsev of Water Resources and Sanitation; and Senator David Umahi, Minister of Works. Umahi also described the reports as completely unfounded.
During his address, Idris shared positive economic indicators, citing new figures from the National Bureau of Statistics which reveal a drop in headline inflation to 23.71 percent in April 2025, down from 24.23 percent recorded in March.
He also noted that food inflation had eased to 21.26 percent year-on-year, with a slower rise of 2.06 percent on a monthly basis.
While acknowledging that some challenges persist, Idris maintained that Nigeria is on the path to recovery.
He reassured Nigerians that the Tinubu-led administration remains committed to implementing policies that are focused on the needs of the people.
The Minister further urged the media to be mindful and constructive in their reporting, emphasizing that the government remains accountable to the citizens.
